Interviews: Eva Snijders

1. Will you introduce yourself to our members?
I was born about 23 years ago as Eva Snijders in Deventer. A while ago I lived in Utrecht, but I moved with the Club Nintendo Service line to Tiel, so I'm living near my job again.

2. What education did you get?
At first I have done the MAVO. After that I have studied at the painter school and the MTS. I wanted to be a commercial painter, but it seemed that I had more talent for computers. So I was going to follow that direction. I have followed some courses. I already knew a lot about video games, because I have had a game console for years. Quite logical that I'm now doing this job!

3. What are your hobbies?
If you're allowed to call it a hobby - I love to go out, mostly in the direction of Zutphen with friends. Furthermore I still like to paint. I also write stories. If I think those are good, then other people may read them. Yes… and of course I'm crazy of video games. You can say that I practice at home for my job.

4. Do you watch a lot of TV and what are your favorite shows?
Many is too much to be said. I regularly watch television, that is. I also like to watch movies. Especially American comedy shows I enjoy watching. A favorite show. Write it down: "Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden". But also "Ook dat nog…" and "Keek op de Week" (with Van Kooten and De Bie) is perfect in my opinion.

5. Do you have a favorite movie?
At the moment that is "Naked Gun". That's also an American comedy. The story is actually a wonderful parody of several sorts of police series and you'll keep on laughing…really.

6. What sorts of video games do you like the most?
Adventures. Those last long, are exciting and you have to use your brain all the time otherwise you are finished in no time. I try to beat new games that still have to be released, sometimes with a little help from my colleagues. I've just played "Lemmings" for example, for the Super NES. By the way: I don't reject a real adventure too. I just went to the Ardennes for a survival. Mountain biking, mountain climbing and canoeing. Tiring, but very exciting and fun!

7. What's your favorite Game Boy game?
I enjoy most of the video games for the Game Boy. I don't have a real favorite, or it has to be "Gargoyle's Quest". That game took me sometime…but I have beaten it.

8. How long are you at this job and do you like to do it? Why?
I'm a game counselor for more than 9 months now and of course I'm enjoying it! Otherwise I would have quit this job for a long time. What I like the most about my job is that not only I learn to know several video games, but also that I can really help people, big and small, old and young, to proceed further in video games.

9. Tell something about the Super NES. Will there be any new games soon?
The Super NES doesn't exist very long. But it's for sure that the graphics and the sound of the Super NES are really fantastic. And the games are more comprehensive. A huge advantage is in my opinion that you can stop playing Super NES games and that it's possible to just proceed the game at another time at the same place. You don't have to start right at the beginning again and that's really nice.

10. What are your Top 3's video games for Game Boy, NES and Super NES at the moment?
Game Boy: 1. Mario Land; 2. Gargoyle's Quest; 3.Batman.
NES: 1. Super Mario III; 2. The Flintstones; 3. The Battle of Olympus.
SNES: 1. Super Mario World; 2. Lemmings; 3. Castlevania IV
